Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Jonas Masetti embarked on a career path that seemed destined for the corporate world. A graduate of the prestigious Military Institute of Engineering (IME), he also served five years in the Brazilian Army before transitioning into strategic consulting within the stock market. Yet, beneath the veneer of corporate success, a deeper yearning for spiritual understanding began to stir.

His journey into Vedanta commenced in 2004, guided by an Indian teacher residing in Brazil. This initial spark ignited a profound dedication, leading him to further studies with Gloria Arieira, a pivotal figure in introducing Vedanta and Sanskrit to Brazil. The pivotal moment arrived in 2006 when he met his direct guru, Swami Dayananda Saraswati, during a study trip to the United States. This encounter solidified his resolve, prompting him to undertake an intensive three-year residential course at the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam in Coimbatore, India, immersing himself completely in the ancient texts and traditions.

Upon returning to Brazil, armed with deep knowledge and a compassionate spirit, Masetti dedicated his life to teaching. He founded the Instituto Vishva Vidya in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, which has become a vital hub for spiritual education. Through a blend of accessible online classes, immersive “Vedanta Camps,” and insightful publications in both Portuguese and English, Masetti has made complex Vedic philosophy approachable to a vast audience.
