PM Modi’s Inspiring Interaction with Women’s Cricket Champions: From Hanuman Tattoo to Fit India Vision

New Delhi, November 6, 2025 — Siddhanta Live Report

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted the triumphant Indian women’s cricket team at his residence on Wednesday, celebrating their historic ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 victory. The meeting was filled with warmth, humor, and inspiration as PM Modi praised the team’s mental strength, resilience, and contribution to Indian sports.

A Meeting Beyond Celebration

The Prime Minister lauded the players for overcoming early setbacks in the tournament and showing remarkable composure under pressure.

“You have done a great job. In India, cricket is not just a sport—it’s an emotion shared by every citizen,” PM Modi said during the interaction.

He recalled how the team faced social media trolling after their initial defeats but bounced back stronger to script history, defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final at Navi Mumbai.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s consistent encouragement and recalled their earlier meeting with him after the 2017 World Cup, when they had come “without a trophy.”
“This time, we’ve brought the trophy home,” Harmanpreet said proudly.

Faith, Tattoos, and Fun Conversations

In a lighter moment, the Prime Minister noticed Deepti Sharma’s Hanuman tattoo, which had gone viral on social media. He asked her about its significance, to which Deepti replied,

“It gives me strength and positivity, especially during tough matches.”

The conversation soon turned humorous when batter Harleen Deol asked the Prime Minister about his skincare routine, drawing laughter from everyone present.

“I don’t think about all that,” PM Modi quipped with a smile.

PM Modi also fondly mentioned Harleen Deol’s iconic 2021 catch against England and Amanjot Kaur’s juggling catch in the final, celebrating the players’ quick thinking and passion on the field.

Championing the ‘Fit India’ Mission

While congratulating the team, PM Modi urged them to be ambassadors of the Fit India movement, especially for young girls.
He expressed concern about the growing trend of obesity among youth and encouraged the players to inspire physical fitness through school visits and social initiatives.

“You are not just sports champions—you are fitness icons for the nation,” the Prime Minister said, emphasizing the importance of sports in national well-being.

A Historic Moment for Women’s Cricket

India’s World Cup victory marked a watershed moment in women’s cricket, making India only the fourth nation to lift the ODI title.
The victory has been hailed as a symbol of empowerment, perseverance, and the growing stature of women in Indian sports.

Before leaving Delhi, the team presented PM Modi with a special signed jersey featuring the name ‘NaMo 1’, a gesture that reflected both respect and camaraderie.

Closing Note

As the meeting concluded with laughter and gratitude, one thing was clear — this was not just a political courtesy but a heartfelt acknowledgment of India’s daughters who have made the nation proud.
Their win, and this interaction, symbolized the spirit of New India — confident, disciplined, rooted in faith, and committed to fitness.
